Max Verstappen led the pack in the Power Rankings following the Bahrain Grand Prix held at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. His performance earned unanimous top marks from the expert panel, marking a strong start to the season for both the driver and Red Bull Racing with their first pole position and race win of the year.
The Power Rankings, compiled by a five-judge panel assessing driver performances, highlighted several notable efforts across the grid. Fernando Alonso delivered a solid showing for Aston Martin and Honda, securing his best qualifying position of the season in twelfth and finishing eighth in challenging mixed wet and dry conditions. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton, now with Ferrari, recovered impressively from an early setback that dropped him from second to seventeenth on the opening lap to finish on the podium in third place.
Other drivers who impressed included Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls, who climbed from eleventh to seventh, demonstrating strong pace as conditions evolved. Kimi Antonelli, driving for Mercedes, qualified fourth (later promoted to third after a penalty) and led the early stages of the race before finishing second, extending his lead in the championship standings.
Isack Hadjar made a notable comeback from injury, qualifying third before a penalty and finishing fifth despite a drop in pace towards the end of the race. Rookie Arvid Lindblad also caught attention by gaining thirteen places on the first lap and securing a point after a late overtake. Nico Hulkenberg showed strong progress by moving up from fifteenth to points contention, although he ultimately finished outside the top ten.
Esteban Ocon, who has announced his departure from Haas at the end of the season, started seventeenth and finished seventh after a strong start. Carlos Sainz of Ferrari moved up early from thirteenth to sixth but lost his points chance following a spin caused by contact. Lance Stroll, Oscar Piastri, and George Russell narrowly missed out on the top ten Power Rankings for this event.
This assessment reflects the judges’ evaluation of driver performances during the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, based on qualifying and race results as well as adaptability to the changing track conditions. Verstappen’s flawless score underlines his and Red Bull Racing’s return to form at Sepang, while the performances of other drivers highlight the competitive depth across several teams this season.
