Max Verstappen remains focused on securing at least one race victory during the 2026 Formula 1® season, despite Red Bull Racing's challenging start. With several podium finishes under his belt, Verstappen feels he is closing the gap to the front runners as the season progresses.

Currently fourth in the Teams’ Championship, Red Bull Racing has faced difficulties in the first half of the year. Verstappen and his teammate Isack Hadjar notably achieved a double podium in Azerbaijan, finishing second and third respectively, narrowly missing out on the win to George Russell of Mercedes. Over the last three races, Verstappen has outscored Ferrari and McLaren, though he acknowledges that Mercedes has maintained the fastest pace for most of the season.

The recent upgrades introduced by Red Bull, particularly those brought to the Baku Grand Prix, have contributed to improved performance. However, Verstappen points out that Baku is a circuit that suits their car well, suggesting that the gains might not be as pronounced on other tracks.

He also recalled his last victory at the Sepang International Circuit in 2017, highlighting the significance of such moments in his career.

Looking ahead, Verstappen recognizes that Mercedes’ upcoming upgrades will likely make it difficult to close the performance gap. Nonetheless, he remains committed to giving his best effort at each race weekend. His determination to secure a race win this season reflects both his competitive spirit and the ongoing development efforts within Red Bull Racing.
