The stewards determined that Gasly “unnecessarily impeded” Stroll, resulting in the three-place grid drop. This adjustment moves Gasly down to 15th on the starting grid.
The incident was further complicated by Gasly’s radio malfunction, which led to a misunderstanding as he expected Kimi Antonelli to remain behind him. The penalty also affects other drivers’ grid positions, promoting Nico Hulkenberg to 12th, Ollie Bearman to 13th, and Carlos Sainz to 14th for the race at Silverstone.
