Drivers activities during 2026 summer break

FansBRANDS® Team |

During the 2026 summer break, Formula 1® drivers have taken the opportunity to unwind and engage in a variety of activities away from the racetrack. This period before the championship resumes at the end of August has seen drivers balancing leisure, promotional events, and some on-track testing.

Among the notable off-track moments, Esteban Ocon attended the London premiere of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, where he showcased a bespoke Spider-Man helmet tied to his collaboration with the franchise. Meanwhile, Alex Albon traveled to South Africa for a Williams fan event, marking the first visit by an active Williams driver to the country since 1993. During his visit, Albon met President Cyril Ramaphosa and connected with local fans.

Valtteri Bottas has been active in the cycling world, competing in the UCI Gravel World Series. He finished fifth in his age group, securing qualification for the World Championships. His partner, Tiffany Cromwell, also participated successfully in the event.

Golf remains a popular pastime among several drivers, with Lewis Hamilton spending time on the course alongside Australian PGA golfer Min Woo Lee. Oscar Piastri has also been involved with McLaren’s golf venture, combining relaxation with promotional activities. Water sports such as surfing and jet skiing have attracted drivers including Kimi Antonelli, Oscar Piastri, and George Russell, who have enjoyed these activities during the break.

Family and personal time have been priorities for some, with Gabriel Bortoleto and Esteban Ocon focusing on quality moments away from racing. On the technical side, Franco Colapinto, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Jak Crawford remained at the Hungaroring following the Hungarian Grand Prix to conduct Pirelli tyre testing for the 2027 season. Their work involved running on C3 tyre compounds to support future tyre development.

This summer pause highlights the diverse ways Formula 1® drivers spend their time away from the track, balancing rest, personal interests, and professional commitments. The activities during this break provide a glimpse into their lives beyond racing and the preparations underway before the championship continues.
