Antonelli’s performance in FP2 was closely followed by Leclerc, who was just 0.113 seconds slower, with Hamilton completing the top three, trailing by 0.149 seconds. The session experienced a red flag interruption after Arvid Lindblad crashed his Racing Bulls car at Turn 13, briefly halting track activity.
The FP2 session took place on Friday, September 11, 2026, on the newly surfaced Madring track, which showed significant evolution throughout the practice. This fresh asphalt contributed to changing grip levels and lap times as drivers adapted to the conditions.
Fernando Alonso missed the start of FP2 due to a clutch issue that arose after the first practice session. Despite limited running, he managed to set the 17th fastest time.
