Kimi Antonelli described the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend as the most challenging of his season so far. Despite a difficult start, the Mercedes AMG Petronas driver managed to recover and secure a fifth-place finish, reflecting on the experience as a valuable learning opportunity.

Antonelli faced a series of setbacks throughout the weekend. Technical issues during practice limited his running, and an early crash in qualifying forced him to start the race from 16th position. His race was further complicated by contact with Haas driver Ollie Bearman during the Safety Car restart, which caused damage to his car’s floor and affected his pace.

Despite these challenges, Antonelli showed resilience by climbing through the field to finish fifth. His teammate George Russell, who started from pole position, won the race, narrowing Antonelli’s championship lead from 81 to 66 points. Antonelli acknowledged that the weekend was a test of damage limitation rather than outright performance due to the compromised condition of his car.
